Last month: Sheila Woolf, the chair of the Stoneleigh History Society, gave us an entertaining talk on the 19th century American heiresses who married into the impoverished English aristocracy, including the Leighs of Stoneleigh.

This evening: AGM followed by a talk by Helen & Peter Viola who will be talking on ‘The 19th Century Baronets of Leamington Hastings and their medals: from Waterloo to Kenilworth’.

Next month: Caroline Rann (Archaeology Projects Manager at Archaeology Warwickshire) will be coming to speak on ‘Recent Roman Archaeological Discoveries in Warwick’. Annual subscriptions are now due – £10 for individual members and £15 for couples. Anthony Manning (Treasurer) will be pleased to receive subscriptions at the meeting in return for which you will receive your free copy of Kenilworth History 2019. Alternatively, you can posting your cheque and details to our Treasurer, Anthony Manning.

Kenilworth Priory marks an anniversary: Our ‘resident’ Canon, John Strecche, tells us that Kenilworth Priory was first founded in 1119 – 900 years ago this year! If anyone has any suggestions as to how we might mark this momentous occasion please do contact Jan.
