You can still book for our outings to Broughton Castle, Banbury in July and St Mary’s Guildhall, Coventry in August. These were initially for members only but are now open to friends and family. Payments for these can be made on Monday night at the meeting or by bank transfer.

Museum News

As you may be aware, we have not been able to open the museum this year because we have no power connected. We are waiting for approval after an initial problem was encountered. Hopefully this will resolved soon. In the meantime we are offering tours of the abbey ruins using the Kenilworth Revealed app. For those who haven’t got the app, we have the loan of two iPads from the Town Council. Although we can’t invite visitors inside the museum, we have opened the door to sell books, take donations, give out leaflets and tell people why we are not open. Last Sunday in April we had 39 potential visitors plus several small groups taking the tour. When we do have power and are able to reopen, we will urgently need volunteers to help with preparing the museum, as well as some to greet visitors. If you are able and interested in being a volunteer, please reply to this email so that we can contact you with dates, times, etc. as soon as the electricity is back on.

There will be a public launch of the Kenilworth Revealed app on Sunday, May 24th in the afternoon, and KHAS members and their families are welcome to attend. There will be talks in St Nicholas’ Church, a procession of townsfolk in Medieval costume, horse and cart rides, market stall, medieval children’s games, mini tours and re-enactments taking place. They are looking for volunteers to help out, (no acting or dressing up expected); if you are interested please reply to this email and I will get back to you with more details. It should be a fun afternoon.

Looking forward to seeing you at the meeting on Monday, Good wishes
